Sudden weight change, fatigue, bloating, cravings, mood swings, acid reflux, constipation, nausea, and brain fog are some of the most common signs of poor gut health. It usually happens when there’s an imbalance in our gut microorganisms.

The biggest culprit behind this is our poor lifestyle, which involves lots of processed food, a high-stress working environment, nil physical activity, and medications for certain ongoing illnesses and diseases.

Most doctors put you on digestive enzymes, but at the same time, there’s been growing interest in natural alternatives like CBG. For example, Colorado Botanicals CBG Oils have become quite popular among those who want to naturally keep their gut, mind, and sleep healthy.

Still, the research is limited for now, so it’s natural to wonder if CBG is good for the stomach or just a new fleshy wellness trend. If you want to try CBG oil for your gut health but still need some questions answered, this article is all you need to read!!

    What is CBG?

CBG, or Cannabigerol, is an innate compound (cannabinoid) of cannabis plants. As the cannabis plant grows, CBG breaks down to form CBD (Cannabidiol) & THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), the two most widely known, studied, and consumed cannabinoids. There’s hardly 1% CBG left in a fully grown cannabis plant; that’s why it’s known as a minor cannabinoid.

You can buy it in the form of edibles, tinctures, inhalants, and even topicals. However, these products cannot have more than 0.3% THC and must be made from extracts of industrial hemp plants as per the 2018 federal farm bill. Unlike THC, CBG is completely non-psychoactive and non-addictive.

It can be consumed every day without any risk of overdosing or getting a euphoric “high.” Known as “Mother of Cannabinoids,” CBG has strong anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, and neuroprotective properties.

When taken regularly in moderation, it can improve your health holistically by keeping your pain, anxiety, and stress levels in check. There are plenty of anecdotes and research data that have found CBG good for relaxation, weight loss, skin health, stomach health, focus, energy, appetite, eyes, and neurological conditions.

    Importance of stomach health

A happy tummy means happy you. Our gut (the gastrointestinal system) is one of the most crucial parts of our overall health. Other than digestion, it affects our mood, immunity, metabolism, weight, and tons of other crucial body functions. Our stomach is one key part of the whole GI system. Other parts include our mouth, esophagus, small intestine, and large intestine.

This GI tract is home to millions of microbes, commonly known as gut bacteria, or good bacteria. Why good? Because they help in digesting food, synthesizing vitamins, regulating immunity, and producing 5HT (serotonin), the happy mood hormone.

Indeed, 90% of it is made in our gut only. As a result, the gut-brain axis links digestive health to mood, cognition, and mental well-being, proving that a happy tummy truly means a happier you.

When gut microbes are balanced, they protect us against pathogens, reduce inflammation, and make intestinal lining strong. This is crucial for stopping the leakage or mixing of toxins in our bloodstream.

However, our modern lifestyle often disrupts this balance due to poor diet, stress, lack of sound sleep, and exercise. This creates a condition called dysbiosis, or microbial imbalance.

    Consequences of Poor Gut/Stomach Health:

    • Digestive issues: Bloating, IBS, or constipation.
    • Chronic inflammation: Linked to autoimmune diseases (e.g., Crohn’s) and allergies.
    • Weakened immunity: Increased infection risk.
    • Mental health impacts: Anxiety, depression, or brain fog via the gut-brain connection.
    • Metabolic disorders: Obesity or type 2 diabetes

Is CBG effective in keeping your stomach and gut healthy?

Yes, CBG has shown great promise in terms of improving stomach and gut health. It happens due to CBG’s positive impact on CB1 and CB2 receptors of our body’s endocannabinoid receptors. This system plays a crucial role in regulating digestion, inflammation, and gut-brain communication.

CBG binds with CB1 and CB2 receptors in the gut and reduces inflammation by blocking pro-inflammatory molecules like cytokines and neutralizing oxidative stress. This results in relief from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It also balances gut motility by easing irregular contractions that cause diarrhea or constipation.

CBG solidifies or strengthens the intestinal lining by increasing mucus production and reinforcing tight junction proteins, which prevents “leaky gut” and bacterial seepage, as we discussed above.

There’s also data that CBG is effective in fighting bad bacteria, so some experts believe that it can create a positive environment for good gut bacteria. Lastly, CBG can increase the amount of anandamide levels in the body by slowing its breakdown. This may bring down pain and stress-related digestive health issues.

What else can I do to keep my stomach healthy?

Other than adding CBG to your wellness routine, you can make plenty of lifestyle changes to keep your stomach and gut healthy. This includes eating fiber-rich foods (veggies, whole grains), fermented foods (yogurt, kimchi), and adding natural prebiotics (garlic, onions) while cooking in your diet.

Increase your water intake to improve digestion and prevent constipation. They have gut-soothing herbal beverages like green, ginger, and peppermint teas. Limit your intake of processed foods, sugar, alcohol, and fried items, as they can irritate the gut lining.

Try to meditate and do at least 30 minutes of cardio (running/walking/cycling) every day for better gut motility. Try to avoid smoking, as it can harm gut bacteria and increase acid reflux. Oh, and lastly, chew your food properly for better digestion, and try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

    The End Note

To sum it up, Yes, CBG is good for the stomach. It improves the working of the endocannabinoid system in the body, which leads to good digestion and a better environment for the gut microbe. You can safely consume it in the form of oils, gummies, or capsules every day. It’s not a magic pill, though, so for better results.

You’ll have to make some positive lifestyle changes too. This includes avoiding

Processed food, getting adequate sleep, and eating fiber-rich and fermented items. Also, whatever CBG product you buy, do check its lab test report and try to go with only well-known brands like Colorado Botanicals.
