Pokemon GO has just unveiled its latest upcoming event, the Simply Groundbreaking event, which brings a brand new Pokemon to the expanding Dynamax Pokemon roster. Plus a whole bunch of event-exclusive rewards, research tasks, and bonuses to take advantage of.
So today, we’re checking out the details to bring you everything you need to know about the Simply Groundbreaking event from the active dates, what bonuses to expect, the new Dynamax Pokemon, and more!

Simply Groundbreaking Event Dates
The Simply Groundbreaking event will be live on November 15th, 2024 at 10 AM local time and will be live until November 17th, 2024 at 8 PM.
It’ll just be available over the weekend so if you want to enjoy everything the Pokemon GO new event has to offer, you may want to set aside some time on those dates.
Event Bonus & Dynamax Debut – Drilbur
The biggest star and new addition with the new Simply Groundbreaking update is the new Dynamax Pokemon debut, Drilbur. During the event duration, Trainers will be able to engage in one-star Max Battles to get a chance to catch Drilbur.
Any Pokemon caught during a Max Battle encounter will be available to Dynamax during Max Battles. This also includes Evolutions, so if you train up your Drilbur caught during a Max Battle, you can even use a Dynamaxed Excadrill which is uber cool.
And for collectors out there, you’ll also be able to catch a Shiny version!
Besides Drilbur’s Dynamax debut, we also have an exclusive Pokemon GO Event Bonus to take advantage of during the event. For the duration of the event, there’s a 2x chance that Trainers over Level 31 and over to get a Candy XL for catching Pokemon.
Wild Encounter Rate Up Pokemon
There are quite a few Pokemon getting an up-rate for their Wild Encounters so if you’ve been eyeing of these specific Pokemon to add to your Pokedex, now’s a good time as any to get on the grind.
Here are the Pokemon included on the Wild Encounters rate-up for the Simply Groundbreaking event –
- Alolan Diglett
- Diglett
- Drilbur
- Jigglypuff
- Kricketot
- Noibat
- Phanpy
- Rhyhorn
- Whismur
- Woobat
Some Trainers may also encounter the evolved form of Drilbur, Excalidrill. Each of the mentioned Pokemon on this list also have a chance to encounter as Shiny versions.
Field & Timed Research Rewards
As expected, we also have a treasure-trove of new Field & Timed research tasks following the event’s theme with a fresh batch of rewards up for grabs. Completing the Field and Timed research tasks will award players with:
- Drilbur Candy
- Drilbur Candy XL
- Drilbur encounters
Again, nothing too extravagant but it does give players who desperately want to add Drilbur to their roster plentiful chances to do so. That said, Pokemon GO players have some new content to dive into very soon.
