Seth MacFarlane is famous for creating Family Guy, similar show American Dad, and Family Guy spin-off The Cleveland Show. Many creators of similarly popular shows don’t achieve close to the same fame as MacFarlane, and that’ll largely be down to his prominence as a primary voice actor in the shows as well.
Across those three shows, MacFarlane voices Peter Griffin, Brian Griffin, Stewie Griffin, Glenn Quagmire, Stan Smith, Roger, and several other ancillary characters. Family Guy continues today, with MacFarlane saying in an interview reported in Yahoo that he’ll only cease the show when the numbers say that people don’t care anymore.
Prior to getting Family Guy green-lit in 1999, MacFarlane plied his trade at Hanna-Barbera and even got some freelance work for Nickelodeon and Walt Disney Television Animation. Now, his work for the screen juggles between adult animation and adult live-action with his own franchises such as Ted and, formerly, The Orville.

What started as a teddy bear coming to life story was given MacFarlane’s signature twist on the formula with the creation of Ted. The first film was a huge success, turning a relative meek – considering modern Hollywood budgets and the caliber of the cast – $50 million budget into $556 million worldwide in 2012, according to TheNumbers.
In 2015, the second instalment arrived with Ted 2, which didn’t do quite as well but still returned a good amount of profit with $217 million from a $68 million budget. Over $770 million returned from two films is excellent and, understandably, spawned a franchise.
The Ted franchise spans the corners of entertainment now. It’s made a particularly big splash in online casino gaming. Given the variety of franchised properties available in this sphere, it’s not a surprise to see Ted Megaways in amongst the most popular Megaways casino games like Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways and Wild Celebrity Bus Megaways.
While Ted stands firm should-to-shoulder with the ever-popular Poseidon Ancient Fortunes Megaways and Astro Newts Megaways, there’s also Ted and Ted Afterparty that remain big hits among the other video slots available. Ted has also made his TV debut. A seven-episode prequel series launched in 2024 to streaming and has a second season on the way.
While Seth MacFarlane’s most successful work will almost certainly always be in adult animation, his work with Ted to expand it across entertainment could rival even Family Guy over the coming years.
